PR178 opens on orange blossom brightened with black pepper, an unusual sweet-spicy start that quickly gives way to Invictus Intense's signature whiskey-and-laurel heart. That boozy, herbal accord is the whole personality of this scent, and the dupe pushes it forward louder and sweeter than the original's more restrained, mineral-tinged rendition. The base of amber, ambergris and salt lands the same warm, slightly marine finish, though it reads flatter and less textured than Rabanne's polished drydown - the salt note especially thins out faster on skin. Performance is moderate: a few hours of noticeable projection before settling into a soft skin scent. Still, for the price this captures the core whiskey-amber identity that makes Invictus Intense stand out from the rest of the Invictus line, and it wears well as an evening-leaning scent for autumn and winter.
