Lalique Pour Homme Lion is an Eau de Parfum launched in 1997, created by Maurice Roucel. Pour Homme Lion opens with Bergamot, Grapefruit, Mandarin, and Lavender, settles into a heart of Cedar, Jasmine, Iris, and Lily of the Valley, and dries down to a base of Amber, Sandalwood, Patchouli, and Oakmoss. Lalique's Pour Homme Lion carries an Acquired verdict, a woody-led wear.

A woody aromatic fougere from 1997 that opens on bright citrus and lavender, warms through cedar and jasmine, and settles into an oakmoss, sandalwood and amber base. Confidently retro barbershop-Shalimar-for-men character in a bottle carrying Lalique's signature embossed lion mask.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter

The oakmoss, sandalwood and amber base is a classic cold-weather fougere, though the bright citrus opening keeps it from feeling too heavy in transitional weather.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Formal
Also Works:
Office Date Casual

A confident, well-projecting classic fougere suited to formal and office wear as much as evening dates; its strength makes it less suited to casual daytime or sport use.

Declarable allergens

We derive these from the materials behind this fragrance's notes, not from the bottle. Each one is likely, not confirmed. The list is partial - the box can name others.

In standard patch-test panels

  • Oakmoss Evernia prunastri extract from Oakmoss

Other declarable allergens

  • Bergamot Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Peel Oil from Bergamot
  • Lavender Lavandula Hybrida Oil from Lavender
  • Sandalwood Santalol from Sandalwood
  • Vanillin from Vanilla

The large name is the everyday one. The small name is the INCI form on the box, so you can compare the two. Reactions differ between people. A patch-test panel is not a ranking of risk. How we derive this

About

Pour Homme Lion is the original 1997 fragrance in Lalique's Pour Homme animal-mask series, later followed by Le Faune (2000) and Equus (2001), and named for the embossed lion head that defines its bottle - a nod to René Lalique's Art Deco motoring mascots. Composed by Maurice Roucel, it opens with a citrus burst of bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin and tangerine over lavender and rosemary, moves through a heart of cedar, iris, lily-of-the-valley and jasmine, and closes on a base of oakmoss, sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli and amber. Reviewers place it as a classic barbershop-style woody fougere, comparable in richness to a masculine take on Guerlain's Shalimar.
