Lush The Bug is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2012, created by Mark Constantine and Simon Constantine. Lush's The Bug carries an Acquired verdict, a musk-led wear.

This is a love-it-or-hate-it scent, often described as strange but captivating. Give it time to develop on skin before you make up your mind, as the dry-down is where the magic happens.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Fall Winter
Also Works:
Spring

A cold-weather scent - best worn in autumn and winter.

Best Occasions

Also Works:
Date Casual

Its moderate longevity and sillage, combined with an unconventional scent profile, make it less suitable for formal or office settings where it might be too polarising. It's best for casual wear, especially in autumn, and its mysterious depth makes it an interesting choice for a date if you want to stand out.

About

The Bug opens with an unapologetic blast of green galbanum and spicy black pepper, creating an intense, almost jarring initial impression. As it settles, elemi resin lends a unique sour-sweet character, before a deep, rich base of creamy sandalwood and warm labdanum emerges, softened by the subtle sweetness of tonka bean. It's a complex journey from sharp green to balsamic warmth.
