Signatures No I

Signatures No I is Maison Alhambra's open nod to Guerlain Cuir Intense. It opens with osmanthus and ylang-ylang, a soft, apricot-tinged floral that gives the leather a creamy, almost sweet introduction. The heart brings leather with musk, a clean, slightly powdery accord. That cleanness does not last long. The leather here is less transparent and less polished than the Guerlain's, but the family resemblance shows over the first two hours. The drydown is where the two part ways. Tobacco, sandalwood and cedar drag the leather towards something rougher, more animalic and more sensual. The Guerlain stays cleaner, while Signatures No I leans into the dirtier reading. Wear runs a comfortable six to eight hours at moderate projection. Among the dupe houses it sits in the leather-and-tobacco lane next to Lattafa Liquid Brun and Armaf Tag-Him, more animalic and tobacco-forward than the Guerlain, which keeps to a creamier finish.
