Nicholas Charles' Lost Cherry opens with a mouthwatering rush of black cherry, bitter almond and cherry liqueur that captures the original's playful, boozy-sweet signature very convincingly for the first hour of wear. Turkish rose, sambac jasmine and sour cherry carry the heart, echoing Tom Ford's fruity-floral direction, though it reads a touch flatter and less layered than the designer version. Tonka bean, sandalwood, vetiver and cedar wood finish things off with a warm, woody sweetness rather than the plush, velvety richness that makes the original so prized among gourmand fans. Lost Cherry remains one of the most widely duped Tom Ford releases precisely because its opening is so distinctive and easy to recognise, and this version nails that opening while falling away sooner - longevity and projection drop off well before the original's celebrated multi-hour cherry trail winds down.
