Oakcha Kayf is an Extrait de Parfum. Kayf opens with Leather, Incense, Apple, and Basil, settles into a heart of Virginia Cedarwood, Rose, Iris, and Coriander, and dries down to a base of Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, and Oud. Oakcha's Kayf carries an Acquired verdict, a musk-led wear.

An incense and leather opening, a rose and orris heart, then a deep base of tobacco leaf, oud and Madagascar vanilla. Oakcha's take on Alexandria Orientale, for those who like a rich, smoky, slightly sweet oriental.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Autumn Winter

Tobacco, oud, amber and vanilla are dense and warm, which is ideal for cold weather. The apple and basil at the start are too brief to lighten it for summer.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal

Rich and smoky, so it suits evenings, dates and formal events. It is too heavy for most offices.

About

Kayf is a rich oriental that moves slowly and rewards patience. The title is an Arabic word for a calm, unhurried state, and the scent is paced to match. The first minutes are unusual. Green apple and basil add a crisp, herbal brightness, while incense and leather bring smoke and a worn, supple darkness. The contrast is sharp but short. The heart turns floral and dry. Bulgarian rose is the centre, velvety and full. Italian orris root gives a powdery, cool, buttery softness, coriander adds a citrusy spice and Virginian cedarwood gives a clean wooden backbone. The base is the longest and richest part. Tobacco leaf and oud lead, amber and sandalwood add resin and cream, and Madagascar vanilla and musk blend everything into a warm, smooth glow. As an extrait it is dense and long-lasting, so a light hand is enough. It suits cold weather, evenings and slow, dressed-up occasions. It works for any gender. Oakcha no longer sells Kayf (its page has been removed from oakcha.com), and this page records it for owners. Bottom line: a smoky, rosy tobacco and oud scent with a vanilla finish.
