910 Hug opens crisp and zesty - cedrat and bergamot over a juicy pear-leaf freshness, the clean citrus-green start that defines Hugo XY. A cool aromatic heart of mint and basil follows, giving that fresh, slightly herbal lift, before a woody base of cedar, patchouli and musk grounds it. Against the Boss original the dupe reads a touch flatter and simpler, the breezy 'forest after rain' character preserved but the nuance trimmed. Because Hugo XY is itself a modest performer, the budget version wears even nearer the skin with shorter longevity. It works as a clean, easy daytime masculine - made for warm spring and summer days and suited to casual wear, sport, the office and daily use. Projection is modest and longevity skin-close after the opening hour or two. As a smell-alike it captures the fresh minty-pear-cedar character of Hugo XY while losing a little of the crispness and what staying power it had.
