Amber Dates opens straight into the gourmand fantasy that defines Lush's Sticky Dates, a warm, gooey caramel laced with the natural sweetness of sticky dates, like a spoonful of toffee pudding fresh from the oven. The heart deepens with velvety benzoin and a touch of brown sugar, giving the sweetness body and resinous warmth rather than leaving it hollow. It settles onto a creamy base of sandalwood, amber and vanilla for a smooth, comforting finish. Set beside the original, the Perfume Parlour interpretation keeps the cosy caramel-date character intact but renders the resinous depth a little flatter and projects more modestly, where the original is famously potent and heavy-handed. Performance is solid for a gourmand but doesn't fill a room the way Sticky Dates can. For a few pounds it captures that indulgent, dessert-like warmth faithfully for cosy autumn and winter wear.
