Bewitching Venom

Bewitching Venom opens fruity and creamy, apricot and plum over a soft coconut that quickly tilts toward the gourmand. The heart brings in jasmine, tuberose and rose laced with the original's signature liquorice-like caraway, before the base does the heavy lifting: the undisputed star bitter almond - sweet, edgy, almost cherry-like - melting into a spicy-sweet vanilla, sandalwood and musk. It chases Dior Hypnotic Poison, a dark, plummy, creamy almond-vanilla oriental that is cosy and sultry at once. This budget version captures the almond-vanilla DNA but renders flatter and less syrupy: the fruity-coconut top reads up front, while the deep, abyss-like vanilla and the edgy bitter-almond nuance of the original are dialled back. Where the real Hypnotic Poison projects strongly and lasts eight-plus hours, this version settles closer to the skin within a few hours. As a sultry, sweet almond-vanilla for autumn and winter evenings and dates it delivers the cosy seduction; just without the hypnotic depth of the real thing.
