Extreme Sussex

Extreme Sussex opens with a peppery, slightly smoky burst of black pepper, incense and aromatic geranium, an immediate nod to Bentley For Men Intense's challenging spicy overture. The heart brings herbal clary sage alongside resinous labdanum and supple leather, before a dry woody base of cedar, patchouli and sandalwood grounds the composition. On skin it wears as a confident, grounded spicy-leather scent, warm and a little smoky, with the masculine swagger of the original intact. What it sheds is depth and force: the boozy rum-and-amber richness that gives Bentley its swagger is muted here, the leather reads thinner and the projection stays close to the body. Longevity is the clear compromise, fading sooner than the original's marathon wear, but for autumn and winter evenings and formal nights it delivers a faithful, affordable echo.
