Far Island chases the timeless elegance of Guy Laroche's 1966 Fidji, opening with a clean, green-floral wave of iris, hyacinth, bergamot and lemon. A soft floral heart of violet, jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose carries the airy, soapy character before a base of sandalwood, amber, patchouli and vetiver gives a quiet woody-mossy grounding. The original is famous for its astonishing green galbanum thread, powdery iris and excellent 7-10 hour longevity. This clone keeps the soapy, feminine, powdery-floral signature and the airy iris facet, but the resinous green opening is rendered simpler and the mossy drydown reads lighter and fades faster, giving a few hours of refined close wear. It captures the elegant, vintage spirit of Fidji for a fraction of the cost.
