French Luminary is Perfume Parlour's read on Montblanc Legend, one of the most popular designer crowd-pleasers around. It opens fresh and aromatic with Italian bergamot and a bold French lavender, the lavender clearly the star, then a clean white cedar leads the heart with a touch of geranium and fruity apple. The drydown owes its signature to a generous oakmoss with a hint of sweet tonka. Against the Montblanc, this budget version simplifies the dried-fruit-and-coumarin nuance and reads a touch sharper and flatter, with longevity sitting closer to the skin than Legend's moderate wear. Still, the clean, confident, just-out-of-the-shower fougere character is well captured, making it a sharp and versatile budget option for everyday office and casual wear at a fraction of the price.
