Opulence For Women

Perfume Parlour Opulence For Women is an Eau de Parfum launched in 1987. Opulence For Women opens with Aldehydes, Mandarin, Carnation, and Cardamom, settles into a heart of Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang, Rose, and Jasmine, and dries down to a base of Vanilla, Heliotrope, Sandalwood, and Amber. Perfume Parlour's Opulence For Women carries an Acquired verdict, a floral-led wear.

A budget take on the original 1987 Rochas Byzance. Opulence captures the aldehydic-powdery white-floral signature, but the dupe pushes the big tuberose-and-ylang heart louder while the elegant, powdery amber-vanilla base that gave Byzance its mature, refined finish reads flatter and fades sooner.

About

Opulence opens in classic 80s style - sparkling aldehydes over mandarin and lemon, with carnation, cardamom and basil lending a spicy, green lift. The heart is a lush, old-school white-floral bouquet: a creamy tuberose and ylang-ylang lead, joined by Turkish rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and a powdery orris root. The drydown turns soft and powdery with vanilla, heliotrope, sandalwood, amber and musk. Compared to the original Rochas Byzance, this Perfume Parlour interpretation reads bolder but flatter: the aldehydes and big florals come through clearly and even louder up top, while the refined, powdery amber-vanilla base that gave the original its elegant, mature character is simplified and thins out faster. It still delivers a confident, glamorous aldehydic floral for evenings and dressed-up cool-weather occasions.
