Rochas
Parisian fashion house turned perfumery icon since 1925.
Rochas was founded in Paris in 1925 by French fashion designer Marcel Rochas, who pioneered 2/3-length coats, skirts with pockets, and padded shoulders alongside Elsa Schiaparelli in 1931. The house entered perfumery in 1936 with three initial fragrances, achieving major success with signature scent Femme in a pink box with black lace. Marcel closed the couture operations in 1953 to focus on fragrances, but died in 1955 at age 53. The brand persisted as a fragrance line under Wella until a clothing revival in 1990.
In 1970, Helene Rochas launched Eau de Rochas, marking the start of the house's modern perfumery era. Today, under creative direction of Alessandro Vigilante, Rochas produces feminine scents like Mademoiselle Rochas (2011) and Girl, alongside men's options such as Eau de Rochas Man and Mustache Eau de Parfum. The portfolio spans 117 perfumes, blending opulent and fresh compositions rooted in Parisian elegance.
A designer, premium house known for floral compositions.
Started as couture in 1925, shifted to perfumes post-1936 with Femme as flagship. After founder's 1955 death, focused solely on scents until 1990 clothing revival. 1970's Eau de Rochas by Helene Rochas launched fresh modern era, evolving to playful feminine lines like Mademoiselle Rochas while honoring chypre roots.
Rochas delivers solid designer fragrances with strong heritage value, excelling in fresh and powdery classics. Modern output lags behind bigger names but remains a smart pick for accessible elegance.
