About

Zodiak 259 follows Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver, the deeper, more mineral flanker in the Terre line. Bergamot, grapefruit and lemon open it cold and bright. Sichuan pepper and geranium come next, adding a prickle of spice and a green edge. The base is where it lives: vetiver with frankincense, patchouli and amberwood, earthy and dry. Here the vetiver reads a shade flatter and less layered than the Hermès, but the arc from citrus through pepper to dry vetiver is clear. Strength and projection are both moderate. It is sophisticated enough for the office and for formal settings, and it does its best work in autumn and winter air.
