Perris Monte Carlo Tubéreuse Absolue is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2017, created by Mathieu Nardin. Tubéreuse Absolue opens with Bergamot, Lavender, Cardamom, and Galbanum, settles into a heart of Broom, Jasmine, Tuberose, and Gardenia, and dries down to a base of Musk, Orange Blossom, Cedar, and Vetiver. Perris Monte Carlo's Tubéreuse Absolue carries an Acquired verdict, a white floral-led wear.

A full-strength white floral that gives tuberose its narcotic, slightly carnal reading rather than the soapy one. Green herbal top notes keep it from turning syrupy, and the woody base stops it floating away.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Fall Winter

Tuberose and gardenia are already dense and become overpowering in high heat, while the galbanum and cedar give it enough backbone to hold up in cold air. Spring and the cooler half of the year suit it best.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date Formal

The projection and narcotic white floral heart are too assertive for shared desks, but exactly right for dinner, an evening out or a formal event.

About

Perris Monte Carlo's Tubéreuse Absolue, composed by Mathieu Nardin and released in 2017, takes the view that tuberose should be treated as a night flower rather than a bridal one. The brand's own copy leans into the flower's darker history, and the composition follows through. It opens green and aromatic, with galbanum supplying a sappy bitterness alongside lavender, cardamom and bergamot, an unusually herbal introduction for a white floral and one that buys the wearer several minutes before the flower arrives. When the heart opens it is unambiguous: tuberose in the round, backed by jasmine sambac and gardenia, creamy and slightly rubbery in the way the real absolute is, with a broom facet adding a honeyed, hay-like warmth. The base pulls the whole thing back towards the woody: orange blossom softens the transition while cedarwood, vetiver and musk provide a dry, faintly smoky floor that keeps the florals from turning cloying on skin. Longevity is strong and the projection is generous for the first two or three hours, so a light hand is sensible. It reads best in cooler weather and after dark, where the density is an asset rather than a burden, and it is far better suited to dinners, evenings out and formal occasions than to a crowded office. In lane terms it is a niche tuberose soliflore in the carnal tradition, and one of the more affordable serious entries in that field.
