Rebel Aromas Orchid Essence is an Eau de Parfum. Orchid Essence opens with Citrus, Orchid, and Apple, settles into a heart of Jasmine, Peony, and Freesia, and dries down to a base of Musk, Sandalwood, and Vanilla. Rebel Aromas's Orchid Essence carries an Acquired verdict, a floral-led wear.

Orchid Essence takes the floral-oriental idea of Tom Ford Velvet Orchid but skips the boozy rum-and-honey opening entirely, landing a brighter, simpler florals-and-vanilla scent with a fraction of the original's sillage and staying power.

About

Orchid Essence borrows the orchid-jasmine heart that anchors Tom Ford Velvet Orchid, but opens with a cleaner citrus-apple brightness rather than the original's signature rum, honey and mandarin richness. The jasmine-peony-freesia heart is pretty and true to the florist-shop character of Velvet Orchid, though it lacks the black orchid and heliotrope depth that gives the original its lush, opulent complexity. Sandalwood, vanilla and musk close out the base with a soft, sweet finish, but the suede, myrrh and labdanum warmth that makes the original so long-lasting is missing, so this fades to skin much sooner. It is a pleasant, budget-friendly floral for those who like the general orchid-and-vanilla mood, but it does not attempt the original's exceptional 9-12 hour performance or velvety depth.
