Rebellious Beauty draws its inspiration from Lancome's La Vie Est Belle, opening with a citrus-apple brightness in place of the original's blackcurrant-and-pear introduction. The peony-jasmine-gardenia heart is pretty and broadly floral, though it lacks the powdery iris note that gives La Vie Est Belle its instantly recognisable, almost violet-like character. Musk, sandalwood and vanilla provide a comparably sweet, warm finish, but the praline and patchouli combination that drives the original's famously powerful sillage and 8-10 hour longevity is thinner here, so the scent stays closer to the skin and fades sooner. It is an accessible, wallet-friendly way to enjoy the sweet-gourmand-floral mood that La Vie Est Belle helped popularise, even if it cannot match the original's signature projection or iris-praline depth.
