No. 42 is The Essence Vault's version of Giorgio Armani's Si, the modern chypre built on cassis, rose and patchouli that became a signature for the brand. The dupe opens convincingly, with a rich blackcurrant nectar that matches the original's juicy, wine-like top note well. The heart brings in rose and freesia, a reasonable stand-in for Si's more layered floral bouquet, though it leans sweeter and simpler rather than carrying the same sophisticated, slightly boozy edge. Vanilla and patchouli close the composition, echoing Si's warm chypre base, but this is where the gap widens most: the real Si is prized for a rich, long-lasting patchouli-vanilla dry-down that can last well into the next day, while this version fades to a faint sweet musk within a few hours. It's a genuinely close match in character for the first half of the wear, making it a decent way to sample the Si mood for daytime use, but it won't deliver the depth or staying power that makes the original a signature scent for so many.
