Athens 26 goes after Versace's Eros Eau de Parfum, matching its full pyramid: mint, candy apple, lemon and mandarin orange up top, ambroxan, geranium and clary sage through the heart, vanilla, cedar, sandalwood, bitter orange, patchouli and leather underneath. The sweet-minty opening is one of the more recognisable in mainstream perfumery and this dupe gets it close enough to be identifiable. Where the gap shows is in blend quality - Eros EDP's reputation rests on how smoothly the ambroxan integrates with the vanilla and sandalwood, giving it a radiant, almost skin-like warmth, and this version's ambroxan reads sharper and more synthetic, especially once the leather and patchouli take over in the base. A loud, confident scent either way, but the original's polish is missing.
