Best Prada Cologne for Men 2026: Luna Rossa, L'Homme and More

Prada's men's range is two families and a lot of versions. Here is which Luna Rossa, L'Homme, Paradigme or Amber suits whom, and four we would smell before buying.

A row of plain, unbranded glass fragrance bottles on a pale stone shelf in soft grey morning light

Prada sells its men's fragrances as cologne in the US and as aftershave in the UK, and you will also see them listed as Prada perfume for men. The bottles are the same. If the UK word is new to you, what aftershave means explains why the UK uses it for a splash-on fragrance as well as the post-shave product.

The range looks crowded because it is. Most of the men's range sits in two families. L'Homme is iris, powder and quiet polish. Luna Rossa is the fresher one, with Carbon, Black, Ocean, Sport and Extreme all sitting beside the original. Add Paradigme, the newest line, and the Amber pair, and you have the bottles most people choose between.

This guide to the best Prada cologne is drawn from the verdicts on our own perfume pages, compiled from wearer reports. Every pick says which concentration it covers, because that is often the difference between two Prada colognes with the same name.

For clean, quiet and easy to wear

L'Homme Prada - Eau de Toilette

Neroli, pepper and cardamom over iris and violet, drying down to amber and cedar. Daniela Andrier composed it in 2016, as she did many of the bottles on this page.

This is the most-rated men's Prada we hold, and by a wide margin. Powdery iris and woods make a clean, quiet scent that does its job without announcing itself. Our verdict calls it a masterclass in understated elegance, and projection is modest, which suits an office or a close conversation.

L'Homme Prada Intense - Eau de Parfum

Iris again at the top, with amber and patchouli in the heart and tonka, leather and sandalwood underneath. Andrier, 2017.

The same powdery iris, wrapped in something sweeter and more resinous. It lasts: roughly three in four longevity votes from wearers call it long lasting or eternal. If the original feels too polite, start here.

Prada L'Homme L'Eau - Eau de Toilette

Neroli and ginger over iris and amber, on powdery sandalwood and cedar. Andrier, 2017.

Brighter and smoother than the original, and more casual: an easy, clean iris scent. Wearers are split on whether it beats the first L'Homme or simply repeats it, and both camps have a point.

For fresh, everyday wear: the original Luna Rossa line

Luna Rossa is the sportier, fresher side of the range. Its fresh versions come first.

Luna Rossa Carbon - Eau de Toilette

Bergamot and pepper over lavender and a metallic mineral accord, with ambroxan and patchouli in the base. Andrier, 2017.

This is the most-rated Luna Rossa in our data. It is sharp and modern, with the lavender kept clean by the mineral edge. Our verdict calls it uplifting and assertively clean, and it works in most settings.

Luna Rossa - Eau de Toilette

Bitter orange and lavender over mint and clary sage. Andrier, 2012.

The original, and a modern classic of the fresh aromatic kind. It is solid and reliable rather than adventurous. The real complaint is consistency: reformulations have annoyed many wearers, and the advice is to make sure you get a good batch.

Luna Rossa Ocean - Eau de Toilette

Bergamot, pink pepper and artemisia over iris, lavender, sage, suede and saffron, on musk, caramel, vetiver and patchouli. Carlos Benaïm and Anne Flipo, 2021.

A crisp, aquatic aromatic with a powdery-musky finish, and the easy everyday pick of the three Ocean versions. Wearer votes lean towards moderate or shorter staying power.

For evenings and cooler weather

The Luna Rossa labels mislead most here. Black is warm, as you would guess, but so are the Ocean Eau de Parfum, Ocean Le Parfum and the Sport Eau de Parfum.

Luna Rossa Black - Eau de Parfum

Bergamot over angelica and patchouli, on amber, coumarin and musk. Andrier, 2018.

Powdery and musky over a warm amber, and one of Prada's most seductive men's scents. The verdict puts it at evenings and cooler weather. It is the one to buy if you like the idea of Luna Rossa but find the original too bright, and it wears long.

Prada Amber Pour Homme - Eau de Toilette

Neroli, cardamom, bergamot and mandarin over myrrh, musk, orange blossom, geranium and vetiver, on saffron, vanilla, labdanum, tonka, leather, sandalwood and patchouli. Andrier, 2006.

A soapy, clean take on amber that has been loved for decades, with citrus softening the top. Reformulations have caused some drama among longtime wearers.

Luna Rossa Ocean - Eau de Parfum

Lavender, iris, sage, suede and saffron in the heart, with musk, caramel, vetiver and patchouli in the base. Benaïm and Flipo, 2023.

Despite the name, this is not aquatic. It is a smooth, warm vanilla-amber with a powdery, woody edge, built to be noticed up close rather than across the room. A relaxing, versatile choice.

Luna Rossa Ocean Le Parfum - Parfum

Lemon over saffron, on amber and oak. 2024.

A warm, mature take on Ocean, a spicy, woody amber that has a reputation for lasting and for performing well. The "Ocean" name misleads here too.

Luna Rossa Sport - Eau de Parfum

Juniper and ginger over lavender, on vanilla and tonka. Andrier, 2015.

Ignore the word "sport". This is a warm, powdery lavender and vanilla scent, divisive but adored by many. If you like lavender with a sweet edge, it is a good one to try.

Luna Rossa Extreme - Eau de Parfum

Bergamot and pepper over labdanum, amber and juniper, on lavender and vanilla. Andrier, 2013.

Our verdict describes it as discontinued, and as a masterpiece that people ask Prada to bring back. The peppery opening splits opinion, and the dry-down is what wins people over. Expect to hunt for a bottle.

The newest Prada for men

Paradigme - Eau de Parfum

Bergamot and musk over geranium, on benzoin, Peru balsam and guaiac wood. Nicolas Bonneville, Marie Salamagne and Bruno Jovanovic, 2025.

Fresh citrus and aromatic geranium sit on a plush amber and woody base. It is quietly confident and subtly distinctive, never loud, and it wears long. If you want a recent Prada with a fresh start and a warm finish, this is the one.

Not for everyone

These four come with a warning, and we would not buy them blind.

Luna Rossa Carbon - Eau de Parfum

Lavender over licorice, on cypress. 2026.

A different scent from the Eau de Toilette, built round a prominent licorice, and fans are fiercely divided. Smell it first, and do not assume that liking one Carbon means liking the other.

Paradigme Le Parfum - Parfum

Bergamot over vanilla and geranium, on benzoin, Peru balsam, guaiac wood and amber. 2026.

For some it fixes the original's performance; for others it is a generic, overly sweet step away from what made Paradigme interesting. Expect strong projection and a lot of sweetness.

Luna Rossa Sport - Eau de Toilette

Citron and bergamot over lavender and ginger, on ambergris and cedar. Andrier, 2016.

A fresh, clean summer scent that wearers call underrated, and a good one for people who get proper wear from it. Many do not. Longevity is the recurring complaint, so check before you commit.

Prada Amber Intense - Eau de Parfum

Bergamot over a heart of sandalwood, myrrh, labdanum, tonka and leather, on amber and patchouli. 2011.

A clean but dark amber for the grown-up wearer, and a divisive one. Some find it a dated "grandpa" scent, while fans call it a masterpiece and compare it with Tom Ford Noir.
