About Art Meets Art

Art Meets Art is an independent French fragrance house founded in Paris in 2017 by Tanguy Le Baud, a former L'Oréal luxury executive who spent more than a decade working in the fragrance industry. The brand's concept is to translate well-known songs into perfumes, linking each fragrance to a specific piece of music and its associated rights holders. Its products are made in France and developed in Paris.

The first collection introduced seven fragrances, including Sexual Healing, Like a Virgin, Lilac Wine, Besame Mucho and I Put a Spell on You. The house has worked with perfumers including Christophe Raynaud, Frank Voelkl, Alberto Morillas and Fabrice Pellegrin. Its style is therefore organized less around one uniform note palette than around distinct musical references, with floral, fruity, woody, amber and gourmand directions across the range.

The brand temporarily paused activity during the COVID-19 period and restarted in December 2022 through a partnership with Paris record company Rupture. Its positioning remains small-scale and concept-led, with an emphasis on music licensing, French production and perfume as a contemporary artistic medium.

Brand Evolution

The house began in 2017 with a seven-fragrance collection translating established songs into perfume. The brand has retained its music-and-fragrance premise while extending its presence through selected international retail channels and newer formats such as hotel products.

Quick Verdict

Art Meets Art is more memorable for its song-based concept than for a single house DNA. The small range offers genuine variety, but luxury pricing and moderate accessibility make sampling advisable before buying.
