About
Fruity Notes is a group note for orchard and berry fruit. It is what a brand prints when the fruit is a blend rather than a named one, and it leans towards the ripe and slightly tart rather than the tropical.
Scent Profile
Ripe fruit above everything, with a green under-ripe sharpness and a real sour bite - the two things that stop it reading as sugar. A sweet vanillic warmth behind it and a little tropical fullness at the edge.
ScentWheel
Read off the wheel, not a label applied to the note.
Origin
No single source. The weighted common ground of 57 published fruit notes - apple, raspberry, pear, plum, pineapple, litchi, apricot and passionfruit lead it. Tropical fruit is present but does not dominate, which is why the group reads as orchard rather than as a cocktail.
Usage in Perfumery
A fruity accord sits in the top and the early heart and makes a composition read as juicy and approachable. Perfumers use it to soften a floral and to give a gourmand something to be sweet about besides sugar.
