Geneva niche perfumery connecting regional natural ingredients with responsible sourcing and place-based fragrance design.

About Nissaba

Nissaba is a Geneva-based Swiss fragrance house founded in 2021-2022 by Sébastien Tissot and Éric Stucky de Quay. Tissot previously led sustainable sourcing and natural-ingredient projects at Firmenich, while Stucky de Quay brought 15 years of perfume-industry and L'Oréal management experience. The brand takes its name from Nissaba, a Mesopotamian goddess associated with grain and writing.

Its collection links each perfume to a geographic terroir and the natural materials associated with it. Early releases included Chaco, inspired by Paraguay; Grande Ile, associated with Madagascar; Provence; Sulawesi, inspired by Indonesia; and Tierra Maya, connected with Central America. Later additions include Les Alpes. Nissaba's stated operating model keeps production geographically close to Geneva: the fragrance concentrate is made in Geneva, the finished perfume in France, and the bottle in Italy. The company presents this sourcing and manufacturing structure as part of its environmental and social-impact focus, including support for ingredient-growing communities.

Scent DNA

Woody earthy aromatic citrus spicy
  • Nissaba builds each fragrance around a named region and the natural materials associated with that location, giving the collection a clear geographic framework
  • The scents are generally unisex and ingredient-led, with earthy, woody, aromatic, citrus, and spice facets rather than a single house accord

Positioning

A niche, luxury house known for woody compositions.

How It Compares

  • → More explicitly terroir- and ingredient-origin focused than Le Labo
  • → Less decorative and generally less floral than Diptyque
  • → More fine-fragrance niche and less minimalist-aromatic than Aēsop

Who It's For

Best For

  • Natural-material-focused fragrance wardrobes
  • Terroir-driven niche perfume exploration
  • Unisex scents with transparent geographic concepts
  • Wearers interested in sustainability and responsible sourcing

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Clear terroir-based concept
  • Strong natural-ingredient and sourcing narrative
  • Distinctive regional storytelling
  • Unisex positioning
  • Close-to-home European production model

Weaknesses

  • Limited collection and distribution
  • Luxury pricing
  • Moderate rather than forceful performance in some releases
  • The geographic concept may feel more compelling than the individual scent to some buyers

Brand Evolution

Nissaba began with a compact group of place-based fragrances released around 2022, then expanded the geographic concept with additional regional releases such as Les Alpes. Its direction remains centered on natural ingredients, terroir, nearby manufacturing, and measurable social and environmental responsibility rather than a broad designer-style product portfolio.

Quick Verdict

Nissaba is a focused niche house with a credible terroir and sustainability proposition. Its main limitation is accessibility: the collection is expensive, relatively small, and its regional concept will appeal more to ingredient-minded buyers than to shoppers seeking immediately familiar crowd-pleasers.
