Parfumerie Particulière
Urban French niche house blending conceptual storytelling with characterful unisex compositions.
Parfumerie Particulière is a French niche perfume house founded in 2016 by longtime friends Guillaume Mantel and Charles Rousseau. Based in France and developed in Paris, the brand collaborates closely with perfumers Amélie Bourgeois and Anne‑Sophie Behaghel, who were given full creative freedom in composing the initial collection of eight unisex fragrances. Production is carried out in the south of France, drawing on the regional know‑how associated with Grasse and the wider French perfume tradition.
From the outset, the founders positioned Parfumerie Particulière as a conceptual "maison de parfum" informed by urban lifestyles and contemporary art. The first collection, presented at Esxence in Milan in 2018, was framed as a sort of olfactory cabinet of curiosities, where each fragrance expresses a distinct mood or scene rather than a conventional pyramid built to please the broadest audience. The house works almost exclusively with unisex compositions, aiming at a clientele of enthusiasts who are comfortable with characterful, sometimes surprising structures rather than safe crowd‑pleasers.
Visual and material design are integral to the brand identity. Bottles in clear, black and frosted glass are paired with polished concrete caps crafted by designer Francesco Passaniti, underlining an industrial‑urban aesthetic that contrasts with more traditional luxury signalling. Artwork for the line was created by Italian artist and tattooist Pietro Sedda, who produced individual illustrations for each fragrance, reinforcing the link to contemporary graphic art.
Parfumerie Particulière moved its operational headquarters from Saint‑Cloud to Paris in 2020, consolidating its positioning as a Parisian house with a distinctly metropolitan outlook. Distribution remains focused on specialist niche retailers and concept stores rather than mass channels, which supports a relatively tight collection and a deliberately curated image aimed at fragrance connoisseurs.
A niche, premium house known for woody compositions.
Since launching in 2016 with a tightly edited set of eight unisex fragrances, Parfumerie Particulière has expanded gradually rather than flooding the market, keeping the line curated. The move of its operational base to Paris in 2020 signalled a stronger alignment with the city’s creative and artistic scene, while maintaining production in southern France and preserving its niche distribution model. Over time, the storytelling around each scent has become more prominent in retailer descriptions and communication, reinforcing the conceptual identity without abandoning wearability.
Parfumerie Particulière is a good fit if you want urban, art‑driven French niche that still feels wearable day to day. If you prefer either ultra‑classic perfumery or loud statement bombs, other houses will serve you better.
