About Zirh

Zirh is an American grooming and fragrance brand founded in 1995 by Brian Robinson. The company started as a men’s skincare and shaving specialist and gradually expanded into fragrance, keeping its focus on straightforward, function-driven products for men. Zirh is named after an ancient Sumerian warrior, a reference that has been highlighted in industry coverage of the brand. The business is based in New York and its products have been distributed through major US department and specialty stores such as Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, and Sephora, as well as international retailers in dozens of countries.

Zirh entered the fragrance market with masculine scents positioned to sit alongside its grooming line. The self-titled fragrance Zirh and later launches such as Corduroy were developed to complement the brand’s clean, metallic packaging and unfussy image. In April 2008 Zirh introduced Zirh Platinum, a super-premium skincare range exclusive to Barneys New York, signaling a push into more upscale positioning within the men’s grooming segment. By the late 2000s, Zirh International operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Shiseido Company, Limited, and the brand also held fragrance licensing agreements, including one with fashion label French Connection United Kingdom (FCUK).

Scent DNA

Aromatic fougere Fresh spicy Woody
  • Zirh fragrances tend to emphasize fresh, spicy, and woody accords that pair well with daily grooming routines rather than statement-making powerhouse scents
  • Compositions like Zirh and Corduroy lean on citrus and green elements up top with herbs, spices, and woods forming a clean but masculine backbone
  • The overall style is functional and office-safe rather than overtly sweet or complex

Brand Evolution

Zirh started as a men’s grooming brand and added fragrance as an extension of its core skincare and shaving offer, aiming for scents that fit simple routines. Over time it explored more premium positioning with the Zirh Platinum line and expanded distribution in department and specialty stores. Under Shiseido ownership and through its licensing activities, the brand’s visibility peaked in the 2000s, then settled into a smaller, largely legacy presence that is still supported by online sales and existing retail channels.

Quick Verdict

Zirh is a pragmatic choice for men who want clean, understated fragrances that slot into a grooming routine without much thought. If you are chasing artistry or trend-setting compositions, you will find more excitement elsewhere, but for low-fuss daily wear it gets the job done.
