Aldambre
Note Profile
About
Dry woody amber with a hot-iron edge
Scent Profile
Aldambre smells dry, woody and amber-like, clean rather than dusty or heavy. A hot metallic edge comes through quickly, like a steam iron pressing clean linen. It has none of the sweet warmth of a classic amber. Soft musky, skin-like tones and a dry stone note sit underneath, like sun-bleached driftwood and heated granite.

Origin
Aldambre is a synthetic aroma molecule sold by Synarome. Three suppliers print CAS 1725-03-7 for it, and the held material uses that number. The CAS registry gives 1725-03-7 as oxacyclododecan-2-one, a 12-membered lactone, so that is the structure drawn for the material. A plain lactone ring does not obviously explain a dry, woody, hot-iron smell, and no maker data sheet was read. The structure of Aldambre is not settled.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it as a clean, dry woody-amber with a hot metallic effect. Fraterworks suggests pairing it with Ambroxan to bring out mineral facets. It is used with Habanolide and Sclarene for a hot-iron or steam effect, and it lasts less long than either.
