Amber Core
Note Profile
About
Soft, round woody amber
Scent Profile
Amber Core smells of a soft, delicate woody amber with a natural richness. It is round and quiet rather than loud, dry or metallic. A creamy, velvety softness close to sandalwood runs under the amber, with a light sweetness. A faint musky, resinous warmth stays on the skin.

Origin
Amber Core is a Kao aroma molecule, 1-(2-tert-butylcyclohexyloxy)-2-butanol, CAS 139504-68-0. It is an ether alcohol made by synthesis, not taken from a plant or resin. Kao developed it as a quieter alternative to the loud, dry amber woods.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it as a soft woody-amber base material that adds warmth without the sharp, dry push of the stronger amber woods. Kao says it blends well with delicate compositions such as citrus and muguet. It suits blends where the amber should feel round and close to the skin.
