What this is made of
Origin
Distilled from the leaves of Pimenta racemosa, the West Indian bay tree of the Caribbean - not the culinary bay laurel, which is a different family. Eugenol dominates. The name records the traditional preparation, in which the leaves were distilled with rum.
Usage in Perfumery
The signature of traditional barbershop and aftershave accords, where it sits with lime, and it remains the reference for that genre. Blends readily with citrus, lavender and woods.
