Cedar Roots is cedar seen from below ground: earthy, rooty and dry, with the pencil-shaving sharpness of the heartwood muted and the soil amplified. No cedar root is distilled. The note is a construction.
Scent Profile
Cedar roots is the smell of digging up a cedar stump, earthy and rooty rather than woody on top. The usual pencil-shaving cedar sharpness is still there but muted, buried under soil. A faintly musty, mossy quality runs beneath it. It stays dry and rooty rather than fresh or sharp.

Origin
No cedar root extraction exists. The note is built from cedarwood derivatives such as cedrol and cedrene, earthy materials such as vetiver and geosmin, and dry-root notes.
Usage in Perfumery
Fragrantica attests the term once and files it under greens, herbs and fougeres. Parfumo does not carry it. It is used as a grounding anchor under conventional cedar, in earthy-woody and root-themed compositions.
