Cyclopidene
Note Profile
About
Lactonic ylang and tuberose, solar and diffusive
Scent Profile
Cyclopidene smells of ylang-ylang and tuberose, strong and diffusive. A sweet, creamy, milky side runs through the flower and gives it a warm, sunny feel. A light fruity lift sits on top. Underneath there is a faint animal note, which grows stronger at higher doses.

Origin
Cyclopidene is dsm-firmenich's trade name for methyl cyclopentylideneacetate, CAS 40203-73-4. It is a single synthetic molecule, also sold as tuberose acetate. Firmenich presented it in its 2023 Sharing Innovation booklet.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it in white floral accords, mainly tuberose and ylang-ylang, for diffusion and lift. One Firmenich perfumer uses it to replace ylang-ylang oil at a tenth of the dose. It is very potent, so it is dosed low.
