Origin

Hog Plum is the fruit of Spondias mombin, a tree of the cashew family. It is also sold as caja and taperebá. Despite the name it is not a plum. Prunus and Spondias are different families, so this note has no botanical link to the published `plum`. Premiere Peau states that no standard commercial hog plum essential oil or absolute exists. The note used in perfumery is therefore a synthetic recreation of the fruit, not a captured extract.

Usage in Perfumery

Used as a bright tropical accent. Premiere Peau describes a three-stage arc: bright juicy sweetness, then softening into floral nuances, then a residual earthy sweetness. Fragrantica's group prose calls it 'citrus-aromatic, acidic, sunny and long-lasting', which is the same shape seen from the other end.
