Jasmine Lactone
Note Profile
About
Creamy jasmine petal with peach skin
Scent Profile
Jasmine lactone smells of creamy jasmine petals, elegant and natural rather than heady. A soft, milky and lactonic richness runs through it, with a waxy, fatty petal weight. Peach and apricot skin and a light coconut sit underneath, quieter than the flower. A faint celery-like, vegetable edge can show in dilution.

Origin
Jasmine lactone here means (Z)-7-decen-5-olide, CAS 25524-95-2, a delta-lactone that occurs naturally in jasmine, tuberose and champaca. dsm-firmenich sells it as JASMINLACTONE (product 952700, FEMA 3745). The name 'jasmine lactone' is also used loosely for two other materials: IFF's jasmin lactone, CAS 34686-71-0, and, by some suppliers, Jasmolactone Delta, CAS 32764-98-0. This note covers CAS 25524-95-2 only.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it in white flower accords, above all in jasmine and tuberose reconstructions. It gives the heavy, waxy petal weight of the natural absolutes and a creamy peach-coconut warmth. Suppliers advise smelling it at 10% or less.
