Tuberolide
Note Profile
About
Waxy, creamy tuberose heart with metal
Scent Profile
Tuberolide smells of the waxy, creamy heart of tuberose, with a gardenia touch. A smooth, milky lactone body carries it. A cool metallic edge cuts through the cream. Faint plum fruit and a hint of celery sit at the back, and there is none of the heavy indolic weight of the full flower.

Origin
Tuberolide is a trade name for methyl tuberate, CAS 33673-62-0, a gamma-lactone (4-methyl-5-pentyl-4,5-dihydro-2(3H)-furanone). Givaudan sells it as Methyl Tuberate Pure. It is a synthetic aroma chemical.
Usage in Perfumery
Givaudan calls it a powerful modifier in all kinds of floral accords. Perfumers use it to give a natural white-flower touch of tuberose and gardenia, and pair it with fruity lactones for lift. Its tenacity on a blotter is about one week.
