Note Profile
Papaya Blossom is a soft white floral note inspired by the flowers of the papaya tree. It is a fantasy accord. It is creamy and lightly tropical, and less fruity than the papaya fruit note.
Papaya Flower
Papaya Blossom is a soft, bright white floral with a light tropical fruitiness. It opens fresh and slightly green. Underneath sits a creamy, lactonic sweetness with a waxy petal edge. Some versions dry down to a powdery heliotrope trail.

Papaya Blossom is usually built as an accord, a blend of several materials, rather than made from one.
Papaya blossoms are the flowers of Carica papaya, a tropical tree native to Central America. The flowers are fleshy, waxy, ivory-white and slightly fragrant. One plant patent describes their scent as ginger and jasmine. The flowers are not extracted for perfumery. Perfumers build the note from lactonic and floral materials. One published recipe uses gamma-decalactone, heliotropin and traces of ylang or champaca.
Perfumers place papaya blossom in the top and early heart. It gives a soft, bright tropical-floral lift. In Dolce&Gabbana Dolce (2014) it opens with neroli over water lily, narcissus and amaryllis, on a base of musk and cashmeran. It suits light white-floral and fruity-floral fragrances.
