Lysylang is a clean white-floral with a coconut-milk body. It is a fractionated ylang-ylang, and the fraction is the point: taking the sharper, medicinal-banana top off the whole oil leaves a purer white flower with jasmine and frangipani underneath, a spicy lily edge and a gourmand coconut character that whole ylang-ylang is not usually described as having. Perfumers use it to add body and diffusion to modern white-floral and monoi accords.

Scent Profile

White_floral is the identity and every source leads with it: a very pure and clean white flower bouquet, with jasmine named in all three. Tropical is second and is what makes this different from plain ylang-ylang. All three sources name monoi and frangipani, and two of them name coconut milk. Lactonic carries that coconut-milk creaminess, which is the single most repeated specific descriptor across the sources. Floral is the generic petal body under the white flowers. Fruity is the ylang fruitiness that survives the fractionation, and Fragrantica describes the note as fruity-floral. Fresh_spice is the 'spicy Lily' that two sources name in exactly those words. Under the line: creamy_woody for the monoi warmth, sweet_vanillic for the gourmand framing, amber_resinous for the 'soft oriental tones' one source uses, honeyed and animalic, and nutty for the coconut.

Origin

A Robertet material, spelled Lisylang on the drum and Lysylang on Fragrantica's note list. It is a selected fraction of Ylang-Ylang III from the Comoro Islands, sold under CAS 8006-81-3, the generic ylang-ylang oil number. This repository's own material record resolves the trade name to ylang-ylang-oil-rectified. That CAS covers every grade and fraction of the oil, so it fixes the species and not the product, which is why this is scored as its own note rather than folded into ylang-ylang. Three trade sources agree on its job: it brings power, body and diffusion to modern white exotic flower bouquets. Robertet's own product name for it is 'Lisylang Heart', which is the supplier stating the position in the pyramid. Its stated companions are monoi, frangipani, jasmine and lily.
