About
Egyptian Jasmine Absolute is the solvent extract of Jasminum grandiflorum grown in Egypt, the workhorse jasmine of fine perfumery. Against the other grandiflorum origins it is the deep, sunny, fruity one, with a spicy cinnamon-and-clove undertone and less indole than its reputation suggests. Grasse material is the greener and more animalic reading of the same flower.
Scent Profile
Voluptuous, heady white floral, deep and sunny rather than cool. A clear warm spice runs through it, cinnamic and faintly clove-like, with a honeyed sweetness behind. The drydown turns to soft tropical fruit and tea leaves with a creamy edge, and only a mild indolic animal note underneath, less than the generic jasmine carries.

Origin
Jasminum grandiflorum flowers, hand picked at dawn from August to November, hexane extracted to a concrete and then washed with alcohol to the absolute. About 800 kg of fresh flowers give 1 kg of concrete and 600 g of absolute. The material is red-brown to bright orange and pourable.
Usage in Perfumery
A heart note and a blend unifier. Perfumers use it to hold a floral accord together, to embolden other flowers, and to set against woody, spicy or green materials for contrast. It is extremely strong, so 1% dilutions are normal working strength.
