Meat
Note Profile
About
Savoury, iron-rich, seared animal protein
Scent Profile
Meat smells savoury and rich, like animal protein. The raw side is metallic and bloody, like iron, with a faint sulphurous edge. The cooked side is seared and browned, with a roasted, nutty crust, some smoke and a slight sweetness. A warm animal quality runs under both and leaves a persistent savoury trace.

Materials That Can Make This Note
Perfumers can build Meat from materials such as:
-
2-methyl-3-furanthiol roasted · sulfurous · metallic
Smell words come from published sources.
A given perfume with this note may use some of these, or something else.
Origin
Meat is a built accord, not a natural extract. Perfumers assemble it from sulphurous materials at extreme dilution, iron-metallic notes, smoky materials and Maillard-type synthetics. The meaty flavour chemicals behind it, such as 2-methyl-3-furanthiol, are made for the food industry and are not standard perfumery materials.
Usage in Perfumery
It is an extreme, conceptual note that appears only in provocative and avant-garde compositions. Perfumers build either a raw, bloody version or a cooked, seared version. It is used in small amounts to give a savoury, animal-protein shock.
