Paracress
Note Profile
About
Sharp, peppery green leaf
Scent Profile
Paracress smells sharp, green and peppery, like a handful of watercress with a crack of pepper over it. It is vegetal and leafy, close to a fresh salad leaf, with a herbaceous side. It reads bright and buzzing rather than warm. A faint floral sweetness from the flower can show behind the leaf.

Spilanthol fruity
Smell words come from published sources.
Allergens perfumes with this note can list: Beta-Caryophyllene
A given perfume with this note may use some of these, or something else, and may or may not contain the allergens above.
Origin
Paracress is Acmella oleracea, also called jambu, toothache plant and buzz button, a small herb of the daisy family grown in Brazil and the tropics. Its leaves and yellow-and-red button flowers contain spilanthol, which makes the mouth tingle and go numb. The plant can be extracted or distilled, but it is not made commercially for the fragrance industry, so in perfume the note is an accord.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use paracress as a fantasy note for a sharp, green, peppery top with an electric, tingling feel. It sits with watercress, pepper and green leaf notes in fresh and aromatic accords, giving bite without the warmth of black pepper.
