Plum tree is the whole-plant reading of plum, not the fruit alone. Jammy plum sits over dry bark, with a thin blossom and leaf lift above both. It is drier and woodier than the published plum note and it never gets as juicy.

Plum tree gives jammy, velvety stone fruit over dry bark, rounder than cherry and less acid than blackcurrant. That dry, woody bark is what keeps it from smelling like plain plum. Origin
Prunus domestica in name only. No plum bark or plum wood is distilled at commercial scale for perfumery, and no manufacturer olfactive description for a plum-tree material was found. Perfumers build the note instead: gamma-decalactone for the velvety flesh, damascenones for the jam, ionones for the darker powdery edge, over a dry woody base. The one trade source that names Plum Tree directly describes it as sweet jammy plum fruit, tree bark and fresh blooming plum blossom together.
Usage in Perfumery
A base note that anchors fruit-led compositions by repeating their sweetness in a drier register. Fragrantica files it under woods rather than fruits, and its own gloss calls it a woodier, sturdier plum. It sits with the other fruitwood notes here, apple-tree and pear-tree-wood, and pairs with amber, tonka and dark stone fruit.
