Rhum agricole is the cane-juice style of rum, and the note follows the drink. It is grassy and boozy at once: fresh-pressed sugarcane over spirit warmth, with none of the caramel and oak that the plain rum note carries.

Scent Profile

Boozy leads because the note is a spirit and both glossaries say so. Green is the facet that makes this rhum agricole and not `rum`: 'grassy, vegetal' in two trade sources, 'frothily green, crisp sugar cane sap' in the drink reviews. The two lead together and neither subordinates the other. Sweet_vanillic is sugar water and cane syrup, not caramel. It sits well below the published `rum` note's 0.82 and below `sugar-cane`'s 0.72, because agricole blanc is unaged and uncooked. Aromatic_herbal is the 'pleasant herbaceous' background the reviews name repeatedly. Below the naming bar: floral is the 'slightly floral' facet both glossaries credit, mineral is the salt and brine the reviewers keep reaching for and the closest facet to a salinity that has no facet of its own, sour and fruity are the tart green apple and watermelon, citrus is the 'very light citrus line', and dry_woody and tropical are held near zero on purpose because the sources actively contrast agricole with oak-aged molasses rum.

Origin

A fantasy accord, not a material. Rhum agricole is distilled from fresh sugarcane juice rather than molasses, and Martinique holds an AOC for it. No house sells a rhum-agricole-specific base. Two perfumery glossaries describe the character and a rum-review site supplies the drink's actual nose.

Usage in Perfumery

Used where a boozy note is wanted without the dark-sugar weight of rum. Fragrantica records 11 perfumes and files it under Beverages as 'a fantasy note of sugarcane juice rum'. Parfumo does not carry the term.
