Origin
A trade-named lactone, sold as Figolide. A lactone is a cyclic ester, formed when an alcohol group and a carboxylic acid group join inside one molecule. No maker datasheet was read, so the CAS number and the exact chemical class are not confirmed here.
Usage in Perfumery
A fig accord needs two halves: a green, minty freshness and a milky, sap-like creaminess. Figolide supplies the second half, which is the part that makes fig smell like fig rather than like generic greenness. It is also used in creamy-green, tropical and Mediterranean compositions. Four Parfumo placements across four brands are recorded, including Bois 1920's Dolce di Giorno and Verde di Mare.
