Triplal
Note Profile
About
Sharp cut grass with tart lemon peel
Scent Profile
Triplal smells powerfully green, like fresh cut grass and torn leaves. A tart, refreshing lemon and bergamot peel note runs through it, with a bright, aldehydic sparkle. It has a cold, metallic edge that a plain cut-grass note lacks, and a faint herbal and floral undertone.

Origin
Triplal is IFF's trade name for 2,4-dimethyl-3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, a synthetic aldehyde. It does not occur in nature. It is made by a Diels-Alder reaction between 2-methyl-1,3-pentadiene and acrolein.
Usage in Perfumery
Perfumers use it for a powerful, natural green note and as a top-note lift. It goes into florals, citrus accords, green accords, fougeres and fresh modern compositions, at about 0.1 to 3%.
