Aēsop Virēre is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2024, created by Barnabé Fillion. Virēre opens with Bergamot, Petitgrain, and Galbanum, settles into a heart of Resins, Pink Pepper, and Green Tea, and dries down to a base of Mate, Cedar, and Hay. Aēsop's Virēre carries a Favourite verdict, a green-led wear.

A divisive one this, some finding it a bland 'mall scent' or 'old man cologne', others a fresh, sophisticated green tea that's perfect for spring. Performance is the biggest bugbear, but the drydown is often praised.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring Summer
Also Works:
Fall

A warm-weather pick - at its best in spring and summer.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Office Casual Sport

Its moderate longevity and sillage, combined with its clean and fresh profile, make it highly suitable for casual wear and the office. It's less ideal for formal events due to its understated nature, and while invigorating, its moderate performance limits its impact on a date.

About

Virēre opens with a crisp, almost zesty greenness from the bergamot and petitgrain, quickly joined by the sharp, verdant bite of galbanum. As it settles, a clean heart of green tea emerges, subtly spiced by pink pepper and mellowed by resins. The drydown reveals an earthy, grounded base of mate and hay, intertwined with a comforting cedar, creating a refined and natural finish.
