Green Tea names no single substance

A natural extract

CORRECTED 2026-10-09. A green tea absolute is sold: it is solvent-extracted from unfermented Camellia sinensis leaf, and TGSC lists it under CAS 84650-60-2. We do not hold it. The held Tea leaf absolute (950854-40-7) is read by the black-tea edge as fermented black leaf, so it is not linked here. In most perfumes the note is an accord. Previously: Green tea yields no commercial oil at scale; the note is a green-hedione reconstruction.

Origin

Green tea absolute or extract is typically derived from the leaves of Camellia sinensis through solvent extraction or infusion. The leaves are harvested, quickly steamed or pan-fired to prevent oxidation, and then processed to preserve their delicate aroma.
