Aqualis Freedom is an Eau de Parfum launched in 2016, created by Jean-Charles Mignon. Freedom opens with Bergamot, Thyme, and Mint, settles into a heart of Sea Water and Anise, and dries down to a base of Musk, Vetiver, and Oakmoss. Aqualis's Freedom carries a Statement verdict, a green-led wear.

A bracing, salty marine aromatic of bergamot, mint and thyme over sea air, a hint of anise and a dry Haitian vetiver and oakmoss base. Fresh and best in spring and summer, but polarising: more voters dislike it than like it.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

Spring leads and summer follows closely, as the mint, thyme and salty marine accord read cool and fresh. Autumn is weak and winter has no support.

Office Sport

Daytime and casual wear score highest, and the clean, moderate trail makes the office a good fit. Date and formal wear are weaker, and sport is middling.

About

Freedom is the Aqualis London Eau de Parfum built around a salty, herbal sea breeze. It launched in 2016 as one of the first four fragrances from the house, and it is inspired by Brenton on Sea in South Africa, where birds soar over an endless coastline of sea and sand. Jean-Charles Mignon is the perfumer the brand credits. The opening is bracing: bergamot, a cool lift of mint and an aromatic, dry thyme. The heart is the marine accord that gives the scent its character, salty and briny rather than watery, with a faint sweet anise. Wearers describe an aquatic that feels natural rather than sugary. The dry-down turns to Haitian vetiver, oakmoss and a soft musk. It is earthy, dry and a little mineral, the kind of base that reads as a sun-bleached shoreline. This is also where opinion splits: some wearers find the vetiver and moss elegant and evocative of a coastline, while others smell something acrid or smoky, even burnt rubber. Staying power is good and projection is moderate. It is a spring and summer scent for daytime, best where a clean, herbal freshness is wanted. Voters lean negative overall, so it suits people who enjoy brisk aquatic aromatics rather than soft crowd-pleasers. Try it on skin before buying.
