Vanilla Suede launched the LOVENOTES line in 2024 as a UK exclusive, and it is the reason the collection took off. The brief is a second-skin vanilla rather than a dessert one, and the composition is deliberately narrow. Bergamot opens it with a brief sparkle that is gone within minutes, which is fine because nobody buys this for the top. The heart is the interesting part: rice milk gives a soft, faintly starchy lactonic quality, and creamy sandalwood sits underneath it to add a milky woodiness rather than a dry one. Together they produce the texture the name is reaching for, a suede-like softness with no actual leather or suede material anywhere in the formula. From there it settles into vanilla bean and a wash of clean liquid musk that holds close to the skin and stays there. It is essentially linear after the first half hour, and whether that is a flaw depends on what is wanted from it. Performance divides opinion: many wearers report eight or nine hours and heavy trace on clothing, while others find it quiet from the start. Skin chemistry clearly matters. It works year-round but shines in autumn and winter, and it is soft enough for the office as well as for evenings and lounging. In the accessible celebrity-fragrance lane it punches well above its price.
