Contradictions in ILK Infatuated is an Extrait de Parfum launched in 2020, created by Valérie Garnuch-Mentzel. Infatuated opens with Apple Blossom, Pepper, Pear, and Custard, settles into a heart of Rubber, Cedar, Lavender, and Saffron, and dries down to a base of Musk, Amber, Sandalwood, and Oud. Contradictions in ILK's Infatuated carries an Acquired verdict, a sweet-led wear.

Rubber, wet grass and oud sit under pear, custard and lavender in a potent, unusual extrait. Strong staying power and a dry woody drydown win fans, but the forceful rubbery opening divides opinion.

Top, heart and base are the brand's own listing, not a timing claim - the industry classifies a note by its character as much as by how fast it fades. Each curve here is modelled from that material's own volatility, so groups can overlap when a house lists long-lasting materials in its heart.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Autumn Winter

Winter leads the season votes with autumn close, and spring and summer are far lower. The dense oud, frankincense and woody base and the very strong projection suit cold weather, where a heavy trail is easier to carry.

Best Occasions

Best For:
Date
Also Works:
Casual

Night votes beat day and leisure and evening votes lead, so casual and date are the strongest fits. A very strong trail argues against close quarters, though one wearer finds it office friendly once settled. Formal and sport have no direct votes; sport is low.

About

Infatuated is the scent of a teenage obsession: pear crumble drifting from a kitchen, a chewed rubber-ended pencil and long grass underfoot. The opening pairs pear, custard and apple blossom with pepper. The heart is the strangest part: a rubber accord, wet grass, powdery lavender, juniper, saffron and cedar. Oud, frankincense, sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, vanilla and musk build a dark woody base beneath it. Reactions are sharp. Many wearers say the first spray is loud, with rubber and pepper in front, and some never get past it, describing locker-room, body-spray or cat-urine impressions. Others wait twenty minutes and find the sweet pear emerge, then a calm, dry, woody and musky trail that reads library-like and quietly confident. The oud is described as anything from barely there to overpowering, so it is a risky blind buy for anyone who dislikes rubber or strong oud. Performance is the strongest of the eight. Most votes describe very long wear and strong or enormous projection, though a few accounts report it staying closer to the skin after the first hour. Winter and autumn lead the season votes and night wear outnumbers day, and one wearer calls it office friendly once it settles. The house pairs it with Nonchalant and says the two can be layered in either order. It is a 50ml extrait de parfum with a 20% oil concentrate.
