Dupe Perfumes Joy is an Eau de Parfum. Joy opens with Bergamot and Mandarin, settles into a heart of Rose, Jasmine, Peach, and Blackcurrant, and dries down to a base of Musk, Cedar, Sandalwood, and Patchouli. Dupe Perfumes's Joy carries a Statement verdict, a floral-led wear.

A brighter, more linear read on Dior's Joy - the rose-jasmine heart is present and pretty, but Dupe Joi skips the original's dense, waxy sandalwood base for something thinner and quicker to fade, so it wears more like a fresh floral than Joy's rich jasmine-rose bouquet.

When To Wear

Best Seasons

Best For:
Spring
Also Works:
Summer

With a lighter, thinner base than the original, this suits warm-weather wear best - the bright rose-jasmine heart feels fresh in spring and summer rather than heavy.

Best Occasions

Also Works:
Office Date Casual

A soft, recognisable floral that is easy to wear at the office or for daytime plans; it lacks the richness and hours of quiet sillage that make Joy suit smarter, formal evenings.

About

Dupe Joi opens on a soft citrus lift of bergamot and mandarin before settling quickly into its floral heart, which is where the resemblance to Dior's Joy is strongest - centifolia rose and jasmine sit close together in a bright, unforced pairing, with a touch of peach and cassis for sweetness. Real Joy is built around one of the biggest jasmine-and-rose absolute doses in modern perfumery, wrapped in a heavy, almost creamy sandalwood base that gives it real weight and lasting power; this version keeps the floral pairing recognisable but flattens the base considerably, with sandalwood, cedar, musk and patchouli all present but working at a fraction of the original's intensity. The result reads as a pleasant, fresher floral rather than Joy's opulent, old-school bouquet, and it will not last anywhere near as long on skin. A reasonable everyday floral if you like Joy's rose-jasmine idea but don't need its richness or its price tag.
