About

YSL's Libre built its identity on an unusual contrast: fresh, masculine-leaning lavender against warm, sweet vanilla and musk. Libree chases the same tension. It opens with lavender, mandarin, blackcurrant and petitgrain, bright and a little tart, then moves into orange blossom and jasmine sambac with more lavender in the heart. The finish is vanilla, musk, ambergris and cedar. The lavender-and-citrus start captures the original's freshness well, and the vanilla base brings the expected sweetness. What is harder to copy is the balance. In Libre the lavender stays sharp and aromatic even as the vanilla builds. Here the vanilla comes forward sooner and reads simpler and sweeter, softening that deliberate friction. It settles into a soft vanilla-musk skin scent fairly early, a fair way to try the lavender-vanilla idea at modest strength, best on cooler evenings.
